5 Steps to Reaching Your Health and Fitness Goals in 2022

  1. Drink a glass of water with every meal or before any other drink you have during the day. The benefits of water are it helps with digestion, helps clear your skin, helps with stress and anxiety, helps keep you from being tired, keeps you full for longer and more. For the last one, have you ever heard your mom or dad say “Drink some water if you’re hungry”? A little extreme but they aren’t wrong. A lot of times dehydration can be masked as hunger.

  2. Get an adequate amount of sleep at night. I personally recommend 8+ hours, but I realize that everyone is different. More, restful sleep will help reduce stress and anxiety which can cause your progress to come to a screeching halt, will help you to make better decisions throughout the day. We all know that we feel 1000x better when we’ve gotten some good sleep.

  3. Go on a walk 2x a day for at least 30 minutes. This little bit of movement will be the push you need and the habit that will quite literally change your day and your life. Try it out for a week and see how you feel. Take a friend with you or take your dog.

  4. Commit to exercising/moving for 30 minutes a day for 3 days a week. This is enough to get you started. You can add on in the future once you get this down for a couple of months. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.

  5. Incorporate a few nights a week where you cook meals using only whole foods. These are foods that are not packaged or preprepared. An easy way to do this is to stick to the outside of the grocery store. This will just get you moving in the right direction nutritionally. It doesn’t have to all be super healthy and zero sugar at first or ever. Do what makes you happy and healthy, mentally and physically.
